Sketchbook Project Preview

My sketchbook is officially out in the mail. It will be a few weeks before it is digitized for online viewing. My title is "Remember When," and my theme is "Parts of the Whole."

I'm mostly satisfied on how it turned out. There's a few that I feel kind of indifferent towards, but time was ticking against me and no time to redo any of those pages in the past 24 hrs.

Here's a sneak peek at some of my favorites.

And so our story begins

Once upon a long time ago, I used to be an artist and loved every second of it. One day, all that went away. For the past 12.5 years, I have been a closet artist. I gave it up once my kids came along, figuring it would never work, since I am particular about what I use and my set up for working, I get really zoned in and tune everything else out, and most importantly, my work is very near and dear to me. Last fall, I signed up to participate in what is called The Sketchbook Project, hoping it would get my creative juices flowing again. It takes me awhile to come up with ideas, if I'm not being assigned or asked to make something specific. I was relieved when the deadline extended from January 31st to March 31st, since there are 32 pages in the sketchbook. Then it happened, in late December. I was trying to look thru old work for inspiration and my secret was out when my kids came to see what I was doing. There is no more being a closet artist. I feel added pressure that they will expect more of me in that respect. This blog will be a collection of past, present and future work of mine.
